Sample contracts for teen or adult child living at home or returning home

Some of the terms in these contracts are similar to terms of probation with which I take issue in the Addicts' Mom, Chapter 22 – Legal Considerations – Criminal. However, an agreement between a child and a parent who is providing shelter is much different than the terms established by the State, enforced by probation officers, and for which jail is the penalty of a breach.

Sample letters to an addicted child

These letters are provided here solely to give ideas or a place to start in sharing thoughts and feelings with an addicted child. Pouring our hearts out as parents does not typically create reciprocation or positive communication when addiction is involved and should not be expected. Despite this, writing can sometimes help to organize thoughts, and may initiate thoughts in the child’s brain. All content of these letters will not apply, but enough content is included to allow you to pick and choose, or to get ideas and add your own thoughts.
